Colorado Chapter Holds Golf Event

The SIOR Colorado Chapter held its 14th annual golf tournament
in August at The Ridge at Castle Pines North in Denver,
Colorado. The event drew more than 55 participants and raised
$10,000 for the Denver Children’s Hospital. Geoff Kreusser,
SIOR, FRICS; Jason Addlesperger, SIOR; Matt McClintock,
Newmark Knight Frank, and Cody Sheesley, Colliers
International were on the winning foursome.

The SIOR Connecticut Chapter held its quarterly fall meeting in
September at the Essex Yacht Club in Essex, Connecticut. Guest
speakers were Kyle Richard, CPA, and Joe Milardo, CPA, Kostin,
Ruffkes & Company, all of whom gave presentations on two
current issues involving commercial and investment real estate.
They discussed changes in accounting rules and spoke about 1031
exchange transactions. Zuvic-Carr and Associates Consulting
Engineers sponsored the dinner event attended by 27 members.

Quarterly Meeting

The SIOR Connecticut Chapter held its summer quarterly meeting
in June at the Matrix Corporate Center in Danbury, Connecticut.
The Matrix Group hosted the event at the Matrix Corporate Center,
the former world headquarters of Union Carbide, which was redeveloped into a multi-tenant corporate office park. Twenty six members attended the Chapter meeting, followed by a formal tour of the
facility, and finished with a cocktail party and dinner. Aaron Smiles,
Matrix Group’s Director of Operations and Development,led
the guided tour. The dinner featured speakers David Glissman,
MacDermid, Reynolds and Glissman P.C. and Patrick Wellspeak,
Wellspeak, Dugas and Kane. Their presentations focused on the
growing trends, challenges, and changing laws in the commercial
real estate marketplace.

Continuing Education Course
In September the SIOR Connecticut Chapter co-sponsored a continuing education event at the Greater New Haven Association of
REALTORS in North Haven, Connecticut. Thirty four professionals attended the two continuing education courses, “Six Dangerous
Trends Facing Commercial Property Owners Today,” followed
by, “Organizing and Implementing an Appropriate Site Selection
Methodology.”
