NWoW: The New Ways of Working
The term “New Ways of Working,” or NWo W, is not a tongue twister, but rather the newest, simplest, most practical and convenient approach to consider when it comes to designing offices. We at CBRE are pioneers when it comes to implementing NWo W. NWo W are the result of applying new technologies to the way we work. This new approach is used for the design and layout of spaces we “live in” at the office, by implementing new occupancy strategies for these spaces. In one way or another, it is
about bringing back the agora philosophy of Greek cities regarding shared work and meeting room space.
The way we work has changed, yet our offices remain as they were before, deeply rooted in the past—unwilling to change with the times.
Whether we like it or not, this weariness will have a direct impact on every company’s balance sheet, resulting in over-inflated costs, which
are not in line with current property requirements.
The reality is that, thanks to new technologies, we now have the option to work whenever, wherever, and however we want - including on
the train, or on a bike.
A Sound Understanding of NWo W Starts with Oneself
Recently, we applied the NWo W model to our previously outdated office space to create a space that fits the way we work. This required us
to carry out a preliminary study of our professional profiles, in order to adapt, and manipulate current layouts and furniture in the head office
to our specific everyday requirements.
The study began by measuring the occupancy levels of different workspaces every hour. We found that we are out of the office 30 percent
of the time, during which time our workstations remain unoccupied. In addition, given that we spend half of the remaining 70 percent of the
