SIOR Western Pennsylvania Chapter Holds
In January, the SIOR Pittsburgh/Western PA/Northern WV Chapter hosted
its 63rd Annual Industrialist of the Year Awards Dinner at the Duquesne
Club in Pittsburgh, Pa. The attendee list of 140 people included 18 Chapter
members and SIOR President, Allen Gump, SIOR, CCIM. The chapter
presented the award to Andrew Moore, Dean of the School of Computer
Science at Carnegie Mellon University. During his remarks, Mr. Moore highlighted Pittsburgh’s place as a center of artificial intelligence and robotics.
One fun fact he mentioned: Google Pittsburgh has built the largest machine
learning system in the history of the world.
SIOR European Regional Chapter Lunches
During a successful trip last November to secure sponsorship for the
SIOR European International Conference, chapter president Matthew
Leguen De Lacroix, SIOR, FRICS, met informally with 12 members and
sponsors for lunch in Dublin, Ireland. Highlights of the visit included a
gathering at O’Donoghue’s pub where the Dubliners once played, lunch
at Hugo’s Restaurant, and a post lunch review and gathering at the
Doheny Nesbitt Pub.
