GEORGE M. SHAWAH
George Shawah Sr. age 86 years old, born in Bethel, CT. died peacefully on Friday
November 8, 2013, with his family by his side at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the
beloved husband of 60 years to his adoring wife Mary (Mike) Shawah. A graduate
of the University of CT, he was an active and highly respected commercial real
estate agent broker and appraiser in the greater Bridgeport area for over 50 years as
well as President of the CT Association of Realtors in 1971 as owner of Baldwin
Pearson and Co., he held the esteemed designation of M.A.I. from the appraisal
institute and SIOR, and was highly regarded by his peers in the real estate industry.
ALBERT J. MCCONKEY
Albert J. McConkey, Jr., died on December 16, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born on September 20, 1938
to Albert J. McConkey, Sr., and Dene Roberts McConkey. In 1967 Al began a long and successful career in commercial
and industrial real estate. He began at Adair Realty as a broker and rose to become Vice President of Adair Realty and
Loan Company. Later he became partner at Kunian Enterprises and helped develop 6 million square feet of Industrial
buildings. Al joined King Industrial Reality in 1986 where he was still active as a senior broker. Al was an active member
of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and served as its Georgia Chapter President and on the Board of Directors.
He was a founder of CORFAC (Corporate Facility Advisors) International and served as its first President.
John Robert Harlan, age 85, husband of Mrs. Annette Duggan Harlan for 53 years,
died Friday, January 3, 2014. He was a graduate of Wabash College and was a history
major. Mr. Harlan was a retired Lt. Colonel for the United States Army Corp of
Engineers with 21 years of service. He served in Japan, Turkey, France, and Korea and
served two tours in Vietnam. He worked for Sherman and Hemstreet for more than 40
years and was a beloved member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.
Mimi Chao, died on January 17, 2014. Chao worked at DiGiacomo Group in Miami, FL. and has been an SIOR member
since August of 1997.
